Ira was my Caldwell Elementary School Class President in 1964. A very intelligent friendly young man who had a disability. He died in the autumn of 1964 from an injury sustained in a Bowen Fire Drill. At his funeral his father gave Ira's eulogy, incluidng a poem Ira wrote earlier in 8th grade (shown below).
Ira was my classmate at Caldwell grade school. I remember him so well. I did not know how and when he died. So very young, like the brilliant flame he wrote of. May his dear and brillinant flame be eternal.
